Description
The Pont Neuf is, despite its name, the oldest existing bridge in Paris. It crosses the Seine to the western tip of the Ile de la Cité. Built in the late sixteenth century and ended in the early seventeenth, it owes its name to the novelty of the time devoid of a housing and provided with sidewalks protecting pedestrians from mud and horse bridge. It is also the first stone bridge in Paris completely cross the Seine
